On the 17th May 2025, Earl of Dartmouth Lodge No. 3279 was honoured to host a Welcome Project Meeting under the direction of Metropolitan Grand Lodge, during which the Lodge initiated its newest member, Bro Simon Harrison, in a ceremony noted for its quality and fraternal warmth.
The Welcome Project aims to provide new Initiates across London with the opportunity to observe a high-quality ceremony shortly after their own and to help them expand their Masonic network by engaging with Brethren from across the Metropolitan area.
The meeting was attended by W. Bro Jonathan Randall, Metropolitan Grand Inspector, the Lodge’s Visiting Officer W. Bro Tony Martin, and several representatives from Metropolitan Grand Lodge. The Lodge was particularly pleased to welcome six Entered Apprentices, each attending to observe and deepen their understanding of the Craft through the evening’s work.

At the invitation of the Worshipful Master, the Lodge’s 2023 Past Master, W. Bro Ian Graham, conducted the Initiation ceremony. His delivery, along with the Charge after Initiation, was performed with exceptional feeling and reverence and was greatly appreciated by all present.
The Lodge also took this opportunity to showcase developing talent within its ranks. Bro Tom Aylott, one of the Lodge’s younger members, was invited to deliver the First Degree Tracing Board. This was his first time presenting the piece in open Lodge and he did so with clarity, confidence, and precision, earning praise from members and visitors alike.
This meeting exemplified the spirit of the Welcome Project by providing meaningful Masonic experience, quality ritual, and an inclusive environment for new Brethren to connect and engage.
