This year’s annual golf event was held at the Ingrebourne Links Golf Club on Saturday 21st June 2025.
The chosen charities for this year’s event are Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) and the Sickle Cell Society.
Given the variety of golf skills of our attending guests this course was always going to be a challenge, however because of our WM close connection to the club as one of their course marshals, he was able to secure a very favourable green fee which enabled us to raise even more money for the lodges chosen charities. Unfortunately, the only available tee times offered were 10 commencing at 12:30. We did have several friends who expressed an interest in joining us to support the charities and they agreed to stay on our reserve list just in case we had some drop out.
In addition to the 40 players scheduled to attend, we had a very good support team in Phil Morgan and Eddie Boyton, who had a refreshment buggy. Unfortunately, we had 4 players drop out on the day for various reasons and it was too late to pull in more from the reserve list.
Given how challenging this links designed course can be we hoped that it would not be too windy and the rain would stay away. What we did not anticipate was that the day would prove to be one of the hottest days in 2025 with no wind.
Because of the expected heat we did have a few drop out at the last minute, but all of the agreed to forfeit the green fee they had paid so the charities did not lose out. We were able to offer some places to those on the reserve list to make up the numbers.
At the completion of the event, we had a full range of scores achieved but one player in particular had a great day and said himself that he had played his “best golf for a number of months”. You will see his name on several of the prizes given out listed below.
